What is your current Job? I work for Lender Processing Services (LPS), a technology
service provider
How long have you been… running?
I have been running for about 20 years. … In an exercise program? I have been going to Fit 4 moms for the last year. Prior to
that I trained on my own for triathlons and half marathons, marathons, etc.
Why is it important for you to
stay fit during your pregnancy? I honestly
believe it is good for the health of both my baby and myself. I have
talked to many moms and my doctor and they all reiterate the same thing that
working out is so important as it helps with the pregnancy and with the
delivery of the baby. As a result I have had no body aches and have felt
fantastic throughout my entire pregnancy (I am 36 weeks pregnant). Also as I
have had to cut out caffeine, working out first thing in the morning gives me
the energy I need to make it through the day.
What is your motivation to get
out of bed so early each day to push yourself? I
know that at the end of the run/workout those endorphins will kick in and last
throughout the rest of the day. Not only does it give me energy but I am in a
good mood throughout the entire day. Also since I have been going to bed around
9:30 to 10 every night, it makes it a lot easier to get up earlier.
What is your plan to stay fit
when the baby arrives? As I have been working
out consistently throughout my pregnancy (Fit4Mom classes and running), I
believe that after the baby comes getting back into a regular workout routine
should hopefully not be as challenging. With the help of my husband, I plan to start
running/going to Fit4Mom classes within a couple of weeks (sooner if possible)
after the baby arrives. I also plan to take advantage of the treadmill I have
since it will be very chilly in January.
how will you balance work,
parenthood and exercise? This will be a tough
one. That said I plan on hopefully being able to carve out at least 45minutes
to one hour a day for my workouts first thing in the morning. Doing it early in
the morning ensures that I will get my workout in and also my husband can help
with coverage. As for balancing work and parenthood I plan to work from home as
much as possible but I believe this will be a ongoing challenge.
