FIT 4 MOMS, LLC

Kate Maliga's decision to start a new career in personal training started with her commitment to share the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle with people in her community.  in addition to her passion for that purpose, Kate brings motivational skills honed by years of bringing people together to reach common goals.  She received her Advanced Personal Trainer Certification and Nutritional Consultant Certification from the National Personal Training Institute in April 2008.  She joined the FIT 4 MOMS team in May 2008.

Kate comes to the world of personal fitness training after a 15 year career at NASA, during which she was the director for NASA international collaborations in Earth Science, helped with astronaut exchanges on the U.S. and Russian space stations, and planned the return of humans to the Moon.  Her move from NASA in 006 was prompted by the need to focus on her son's health--and her own.  Her son is now in second grade and doing much better, and with the nutrition and exercise plan she developed for herself, Kate dropped 15lbs.

Kate has always loved exercise.  n high school she played field hockey and basketball, in college played club rugby, and to show her husband how much she loved him, she once biked 500 miles across the state of Iowa, despite having not ridden a bike in 20 years.  Kate's motto is, "I've always believed everyone can benefit from getting more exercise in their life, and it should be something fun that you look forward to every day."  Kate is keenly interested in research on the mind-body connection, which suggests that the development of a strong and healthy body is important for a strong and healthy mind.  Kate earned her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary, and her graduate degree from Syracuse University.
