Sara Starck grew up in northern Indiana building tree forts,
making mud pies and driving tractors. There she developed a love for the
outdoors and physical activity. While
attending Purdue University she rowed on the Crew Team, competed in marathons
and triathlons until the fun (sort-of) ended when she graduated with a Bachelor
of Science in Agriculture and Biological Engineering. She started her career with Nestle USA where
she worked to improve the quality and manufacturing of their food products. She
supervised crews of 10-20 people and led many focused improvement teams while
staying active by continuing to compete in a number of marathons and
triathlons. In April 2008, Sara and her
husband relocated to the Washington DC area.
She continued to work for Nestle at Dreyers’ Grand Ice Cream, but the
commute and long hours took her away from Noah, their son. So after “making it work” for 10 months she
surprisingly decided to be a stay at home mom.
Sara loves staying home with Noah, but missed structure and
challenge in her daylight hours. Upon
meeting Sheila, she gladly accepted the position as Child Care
Supervisor/Child Fitness Lead for FIT 4 MOMS, LLC and FIT 4 KIDZ. Sara most recently gave birth to her daughter, Natalie and is finding great joy in mothering 2 children. Sara has earned her Child Fitness certification through AFPA. She
loves interacting with the children to keep them active and fit. She enjoys the challenge of developing
their fine and gross motor skills as well as teamwork and problem solving. Sara strives to create activities that increase
strength, coordination, flexibility, and creativity as well as a little “free
play”. She hopes to encourage
children of all ages to be physically active and build the foundation for
lifelong health.
FIT 4 KIDZ is being offered at most Arlington Public Schools! Check us out.
